At home with Rufus and Pixie is great, except that Rufus hardly sticks around long enough. He seems starved for canned cat treats and catnip each time he returns. I gladly attend to his needs. My tabby "Pixie" picks up odd behaviors from Rufus though, which is quite unnerving. For example, her newest habit of calling me 'steef, and asking for help on an hourly basis. I'll break her of this soon.
Upon his last disappearance, Rufus seemed anxious about something. I hope he is okay.
I've already posted two craigslist ads, no response. I also handed out flyers all over town in hopes that someone would come forward.
My only clue is from a video tape that I found in the dumpster behind my apartment. It was left behind by my neighbor who recently moved. The tape was in bad condition, and soaked with water from the melting snow. There is some strange code written on it that I do not understand. I am doing my best to stitch the tape back together.
When I saw the first few minutes of playback on my screen, my jaw dropped at the sight of Rufus (and some other white cat). At first I was excited that I was finally on to something that would ultimately bring Rufus home. But then I heard the man on the tape yelling at him. I now know that the man who lived next door has captured my cat and moved away. If he only knew that I am following his tracks, and I NEVER give up.
I have placed what video I have so far below.
I have only repaired a fraction of the tape, and I'm still making progress by the day.
I will continue to update and add footage as it is repaired. The tape seems to be completely full of evidence. I found it astonishing that he recorded me on the street. I remember that day. Meeting my neighbor for the first time. He seemed creepy, so I walked away in terror.
The new tenant in the unit next door has agreed to let me search the apartment for clues. I have accumulated many black hairs as evidence from the carpet. However, some of the hairs seem to be from another animal. Possibly a penguin or a small horse. The white/grey hairs that I found were silky. I ran a DNA test on them and it seems as if they originated from some sort of small peacock.
I have finally completed Rufus's kennel. Constructed from barbed wire and steel framing, it should keep him safe when I bring him back home. He won't get away again. As for the man who stole him, I have plans for him too.
Wish me luck.
